Youth Climate Adaptation Programme (YCAP) 2026

Empowering Young People to Lead Community-Based Climate Adaptation and Resilience

The Youth Climate Adaptation Programme (YCAP) is CREAP Africa Initiative’s flagship annual cohort intervention, designed to equip young people with practical skills and leadership capacity for climate resilience and sustainable development. The 2026 cohort, with support from ActionAid Nigeria, engaged 25 participants in four days of intensive capacity-building training, five extensive mentorship sessions, community action projects across three communities, and six advocacy engagements. Participants strengthened their understanding of climate adaptation, developed practical project ideas, and gained skills in environmental sustainability, climate communication, and community mobilisation. Through hands-on action and advocacy, YCAP promoted youth-led solutions, strengthened community engagement, and established a foundation for continued climate leadership and locally driven resilience.
